Pronuntiatio

Ecclesiastical Latin (used in the Church and for the Rosary) differs from classical Latin.

  • Soft "c" before e, i, ae, oe is pronounced "ch" (as in "church").
  • "g" before e, i is soft "j".
  • "gn" is like "ny" in "canyon".
  • Vowels are pure; no diphthongs as in English.

Listen to a choir or priest for the natural flow of the prayers.
